Emily grabbed his hand, half running to the collapsed man outside the scullery, the lamp still burning next to him, illuminating his pale face.

Aiveron let Emily lead him to the body. But his stomach clenched at who he realized it was. "SEBASTIAN!" He called out as he hurried over to him to see if he had a pulse. He closed his eyes in silent prayer as he felt the telltale sign of life. "He lives! But for how long, I don't know. We have to get him to the infirmary. He's been shot in the shoulder. " He explained as he rolled Sebastian over and cradled him to him as he stood up. "If you'd get the door for me, I'd greatly appreciate it. " He said kindly to Emily.

Reptar headed over to Some gaurds to find out what the latest drama was all about. That's when he found out about the second attempt on the queen's life. He was shocked at this news. This wasn't supposed to be happening. The old queen's sacrifice was for nothing. It hadn't kept them safe. He thought to himself.

That's when he looked up and saw Mesquite. He smiled softly as he headed over to her. "Hello lady Mesquite. Have you heard the latest news? " He asked as he dipped his head formally.

"Fools." Mesquite whispered only for herself to hear as she passed the guards. She paid attention to everything, internalizing how she would conquer every battle though because she rarely spoke she was considered ignorant.

It took Emily a moment to register what he said, but she bolted for the door when it registered. She followed every move he made carefully, her heart pounding.

Lillia still had not gone up to bed, because everyone seemed to be making a fuss. She had gotten conformation that there weren't any more humans about, but she was still very suspicious and didn't really feel like falling asleep.
Perhaps I'll just stay up tonight, mostly. Or sleep in the rafters Lillia thought to herself. Of course, it wouldn't be wise to deprive herself of sleep. In fact, that would be rather immature, and would not improve how she felt.

Achilles approached Lillia, looking very frustrated with the situation. He bowed before he spoke, but didn't bother with doing anything else in respect.
"My queen, this kingdom seems to be falling apart, I swear. We need to take action, the humans have to be hiding somewhere."

Lillia nodded in agreement. "And the way they're attacking makes no sense. They are coming one by one." She said and shook her head.

"Tomorrow we need to search, beyond the castle walls. At least, that is what I suggest. But for now, we need to make sure that you don't get murdered in your sleep. Is your room secured? I heard somebody was doing that."

"Well, Sino went to secure my windows, but he hasn't done it yet, I believe."

Achilles sighed. "I'll do it, then. We can't take ten hours to do every little thing. So, give me a few minutes, and you may sleep without worrying about having a bullet in your head." He then walked away.

Aiveron whispered softly to Sebastian, "Hang in there. Help is on it's way my friend. " Sebastian was so pale, it frightened him. He rushed through the now open door and navigated the hallways to get to the Infirmary. "Help!" He called out as the gently laid Sebastian on one of the tables.

Acan carefully trode to a lesser visited part of the courtyard, opposite the garden. Something was wrong, something was.. out of place. Scenting a trail, he followed it behind the stables, between the stable wall and the rampart wall. That's where he found it, hidden partially by a haphazardly place flake of hay. It was a very narrow tunnel, newly excavated. This must have been where they were coming in! Most of the birds were looking up, not down, and only the vultures could track a scent as well as Acan, with his huge sinuses. He pulled back, staring for a moment before turning and crying out alarm.
