It's a work in progress....but this is what I have so far! (More pics)

Wow-so nice! I would like to see more pictures too.

Seeing such a wonderful, well designed coop and run helps to give those of us with plans to build a bigger, better coop good ideas.

Ok as promised, here are a few more pics of the coop but please remember I'm not finished yet. I have a few more things that I'm working on and I still have trim work to do.

If you have any suggestions...please let me know. This is my first chicken coop and I'm just winging it! lol

! winging it!!

Thanks guys!

I plan on putting my nesting boxes in this area so that I can access the back of the boxes from inside the coop in the morning and not have to go in the back with the birds.

I also plan on finishing this area here. I have it cut out for a door already you can see the lines of the siding don't match up. I screwed a piece plywood left over up just to close the coop in from the run. This door will allow me to go in and out between the coop and the run. I was thinking I could still have the door from the run to the yard closed and the front door of the coop closed and still have a way to go from the run to the inside of the coop. I may decide down the road that this door is not needed but it was not a big deal to add while I was building the coop. Then of coarse everything out here still needs to get painted.

Anyway, that where I'm at with this project. I have work to do to our horse barn that is going to take me a while so all this might get pushed back for a while.

Thanks again for looking and all the nice comments,
Chris

i think it's totally awesome :) i have a shed i converted and divided the space into storage in front and coop in back, but didn't think to just do what you did with the door, etc. i actually built a wall. your idea, way better! i might steal that, if you don't mind. ;-) before our snow starts my plan is to build a covered area of the run that is attached. nothing like the impressive one you have. my run is plenty big, but i'm just gonna build a roof to keep snow off a portion of it, LOL!!!

however!!! you just supplied me with the playhouse i have been wanting to build for my 5 kids!!! your chicken coop is EXACTLY what i have been looking for! a shed like structure with an attached porch and covered area for bug free outdoor summer play!! so HUGE GIANT THANK YOU!!!

i'm sure your birds are very very happy :) great job!

I told the wife several times when I was building it....if things don't work out with the birds... our little girl is going to have one heck of a play house!! LOL!!!

LOL! Look at the third pic, top left hand corner along the fence line by the gate. You can just barley make out the frame for the hammock! LOL! That's to funny.

By the way, my mother in law was convinced that I was building this for her and that's not a joke either. She had a fit when she came over and the birds were actually in there.

Chris

I can see you have your priorities straight!! lol
Seriously, that is too funny!!
I love my MIL, but I see the irony in that because MY MOM, sheesh!! She can get on our nerves sometimes.

Really fantastic, and if we're talking about stealing ideas

I might have to 'borrow' your roost set up in your run. I'm building my run now and hadn't thought to attach roosts that way. Great ideas ... especially for someone who's just 'winging it'

Love chicken humor...
