I cannot tell you how many times I have been on BYC to find helpful info, as I am a newbie to keeping chickens. It is amazing how helpful you all are!!! I hope to become a valued member, and learn as much as possible.

I have 4 frizzle chickens and 4 that are black iridescent. I absolutely adore them and I am hoping to add a few more breeds soon. One of my girls seems to think her only chore in life is to have babies, so i am always on the lookout for her hiding eggs, lol!

Thank you! Oh, definitely! She hatched 9 eggs the first time, which all were healthy and I still have most of them. She had 5 boys and 4 girls. I am trying to find good homes for the boys now.

Then she went broody again, but this time our luck was not so great. Since it was so warm outside, I did not bring her and the 5 babies in. Ended up that we lost all of them to predators. Will not make that mistake again! It was devastating!

This time I am making sure to give her a good, long break, and hopefully we will have more babies in a few months. My daughter is absolutely engrossed with the babies when we have them. We have the best time. Amazing the personalities they have!
