We tried to do the Mt Healthy deal but they sent me a ship date in October.
Meyers had a fryer special of 50 various cockerals we bought and the Cornish

the noise is almost non-existent. they only start peeping when the scary hand goes into the brooder or i turn a light off momentarily. other than that, they are super quiet.

the poop, on the other hand....

i just add layers of shavings or scoop the ooky shavings out.

it's ca-ra-zaaay!

actually, i just offered a few to a home schooling mom on Freecycle to see if she wants to do a lesson on genetics, with the sex links. cool!

so far, 101 of the 102 chicks have thrived! they are 2 weeks today. here they are, out in the tractor. they are bunking with 5 older cornish x. the older girls are showing them the ropes. so far, so good!

next, they will get split into more tractors, when they are feathered out. right onw, they have 2 heat lamps and lots of sunshine.

we still have 74 of the 80 fryers inside in stock tanks...6 went to live with BYC'er, Gloria.
they are growing like weeds too!

That's insane! Chicks everywhere! I still fell overwhelmed that I might have 25 hatching soon...

they seriously are! but, even with as many as there are, it's not too much, YET.

i helps that i just processed all the 9 week cornish x. so, only 175 to go!
