PEEP!
Go chick go!
I noticed my egg carton had sucked up some of the water I'd put in the tray underneath the wire (oh no!) and after reading some of the posts about chicks drowning I thought I'd better switch the eggs out and move them out of the 'tray zone'. So I swapped all 14 to a dry different carton and moved them, prayed really hard as I frantically dripped water everywhere but on the eggs. Not less than 2 minutes later, humidity was back to 65 and I heard a crunching, then "PEEP". I'd only come to check on the incubator d/t just got the baby asleep and my husband is sawing logs snoring....I can't fall asleep through that racket.
So now I'm hoping I didn't just ruin everything, but I think it was better than letting the eggs rest on damp cardboard, since day 20 starts in 9 hours for me.
I promise I won't touch that lid again until day 21 is over!
