Its Done! there in! new pics. looks like the girls love it!

i hope its reinforced!

i put the 2x4's over the wire, its sandwiched between the boards . top, bottom and sides!

the plastic coated chicken wire was donated to me along with most of the wood. my biggest fear is raccoons. i have a den tree in the backyard. and there very nasty. i may cut that tree down!

Nice construction - looks really heavy!

I think with that coated chicken wire, you'd better plan for a lockable hasp for your pop door instead of the hook and eye. At least the coon can't get into the house even if they get through the wire. And they might, especially after they have pups to feed.

If your weather is like mine, it's probably a little chilly still at night for 6 week old chicks outside. I'd add heat for now, even if it's only at night. Besides, a 100 watt bulb might keep them up all night.

I think a hundred watt bulb in a reflector would be enough if you lower it where they can get some radiant heat from it. By 6 weeks (depending on the breed) they should be pretty well feathered. There shouldn't be a draft down low, I think they would do fine.

well crap. after more reading on this site i have decided to use wire cloth along with the chicken wire. it shouldn't be to hard to do. all i have to do is remove the outer boards.

Looks rock solid....very nice yard too by the way. You going to paint it...if so, update us.....

we may paint it. not sure yet. i'm going to get a real lock for the pop door tomorrow. keep them locked in the coop at night and see what happens.
