It's getting mucky!

Hey guys!

have got five ducks last spring and now they are with my older chickens. they obviously need some sort of water swimming thing so we have tubs of water. They have a little place for the water but I have to refill them everyday so when I dump them out it gets all muddy. Help Please!

My chickens hate it, and their feet are always muddy.

What do you guys do?

It will be an investment, but you could always buy a shallow pool with a high-quality filter. That way it would stay clean for longer.

And for replacing the water, I would dump it in a spot you chickens don't go/like. Best of luck

I keep the pools out of my Runs or use a pail and toss it out of the run..Also I do not House my Ducks with Chickens...

You don't actually need anything for them to swim in, just a bucket deep enough to wash their nostrils, if you want to get rid of the pools completely. They'll still need to be dumped and refilled every day, but you could just take the bucket to water your plants.

They also drink out of the waterers and it leaks and then it gets muddy

I like having the hoses on the pools so you can divert the water anywhere you want. I also like the waterers where they have to stick their head into it so it's less messy. I don't know how well the waterer works with chickens though.
