Well we're cold, but not that bad. We had a hen just hatch 7 chicks two weeks ago...she certainly is surprised..... at the change from 70 two days ago, to 16 this morning !

But they have a nice warm pen and she's doing a super job making sure they stay warm.

That's the truth! My husband just asked why we don't move south....so I said the thought had crossed my mind.....but we don't because there is way more people to deal with in many other states, no family and we truly love the outdoors, beauty, and raising our kids here. The wind and cold are brutal....just have to remind ourselves why we deal with it.

I feel the same way about living in ND... though with the oil boom there are more people. I can definitely say that we appreciate the spring flowers more! And moving with all of these critters would be a pain...

You have my sympathies. Last year the carafe for my coffee maker broke. I was so desperate I stood there with a different container in one hand under the little spout and a spoon in the other hand pressed upward to open the valve and allow the coffee to flow down thru into the substitute container. What a fiasco, but I got my coffee in the end.

I wished it was just a broken pot i have a few of those, now i am waiting till my daughter pokes her head outside so i can go rob her coffee pot so all is not lost but darn it is hard to wait hours to get that warm drink in me when it is frosty outside and i have to feed.
Thank god i don't have a headache from the lack of caffeine .

I finely got me some coffee around 8 am now i done been up sense 4 am so i was well past ready so i make my way over to my daughters and beg for a cup

Like it sat on the heat all day long .

I got rid of the old time peculating kind after many years of moving it around in the kitchen funny thing is i was looking at one a couple weeks ago and thought now that i am going to have a hude pantry i should get another one in case we lost power to a bad storm, shoulda went with my thoughts and i would have had cofee i was use to.

PS no i do not go camping i live in the woods, i have 3 ponds ,wildlife and firewood, i think folks go camping to get that kinda stuff
