It's going to be super cold.

I will say my peas have been super easy it sounds like. They can free range but every night during the summer they go back to the barn and during the windy season they never, ever leave the barn. So they aren't roosting outside. My concern is more that my barn is big and doesn't hold heat because of it.

hpow old are they now?
mine would go back in the breeder pen or on top of it for a couple months but as they got older they all took to the trees which i was glad to see as i was afraid their toes would freeze on them chain link pipes

They're gonig to be 2 this spring. April they'll be 2. Where I live we don't have many trees. The trees we have on our property are all smaller sized, 10ft at the most. So their options are the barn, the lean to or the garage. They've always chosen to go back to the barn though they'll go out and roost in the other 2 locations during the day.

Well you are very lucky they did not take to the roof unless it is shingles, my first peas back in 09 thought sleeping on the peak of my barn would be good until it rained, first step they took off the peak sent them skating towards and of ff the edge.. they quickly realized that that was never gonna be a good place to roost with all the humidity and rain showers we get here

Our roof is metal, on the house and the barn. They go up there sometimes but they don't stay up there. It's always skating time. :p

Love your pic!!!!

The Prarie State is expecting on Sunday a low temp of NEGATIVE 18,high on Monday of NEGATIVE 5 and a low of NEGATIVE 13. Getting a little concerned here about my 2013 hatched peas,as well as my 2012 group. Adults inside of Pea Palace should be okay but these two groups are giving me anxiety on how to keep them warm enough without getting frostbitten toes.the 2013 group don't use the perch "per say" but get into a group and huddle together on a concrete floor that I put grass hay on about 6" thick. This could be bad

How about getting a pig blanket/mat?

They will be fine, my 2013 hatches all sleep in the trees in the wind , rain and freezing temperatures , yours are in a barn protected from the winds so they will be fine, they will roost close to each other if it gets to cold
