I just went out to feed and water my birds and it is 19•. I guess according to other postings we are having a heat wave! It's still colder than blue blazes!!!!

Well now that the kids ar grown and gone I will be fine, they were the winers when the power went off during the hurricanes and even an ice storm back in 1997 acted like a bunch a babies.

I know my DH he will be at work cause they will be calling for fire watch and he is up on that job, so I will be here by myself , but that is nothing new.

it is raining right now. and it has dropped to 36 degrees in just a couple hours.

I am kinda worried about the peas way up in the trees, they are getting blown around and it is raining and freezing, don't know why they will not stay in the barn at night, they spend most of the day in there when the weather is bad during the day, heck they stayed in the barn most of the day while the tempy dropped, guess they were resting up for a freezing hang on night.

Hope I don't end up with a bunch a pea cycles by morning.

We lose power here when it's super cold it will be disastrous.I worry every nite about my 2013 hatched young peas. I have all my 2013 hatched ornamental pheasants also in that building with these young peas and the pheasants likes to practice flight at times and they've hit the electric cords to the heat lites many times.If I lose one of the 2 heat lites that could make for a very sad early morning check-in as I do everyday before I leave for work.I've got them deep fresh dry straw for bedding,the building itself is not 100% draft free but maybe 95%. I closed the door that allows them to go into the outside pen last nite.The wind was really howling last nite and besides it being cold it wasn't drafty inside the building.A constant cold wind at sub-zero temps scares me with these small peas.They are eating good and have dropped off about 1/2 on the water consumed daily but they do drink which is very important when it's cold. Merlot hatch-a-longs cannot get here soon enough

How are you all ok?
Tried to talk DH into taking the farm truck as there is ice everywhere, but no his hard headed butt still wanted to take the car, so what does he do? tries to drive around the barn where the contractors made a mess and got his butt stuck, he came back in and wanted me to get the tractor and pull him out WHAT?

you can't be

serious take the truck if you have to, besides (god is trying to tell ya something (Listen to him)
DH don't listen so then he has to thaw out the truck, I saw where all bridges he has to cross are now closed, well he don't matter cause he still planned on going, meanwhile the truck is taking forever to thaw(once again god was trying to tell him something) he don't listen then he finely saw the news where they were showing trafic backed up at both bridges and wrecks are happening right and left as it is sleeting everywhere (god tried to tell him something) and now he has to listen

I love DH dedication to his job but he shouldn't put his life on the line, he ain't a public servant .
Oh and he will be paid today even though he can't make it, they call it a personal holiday and he gets 5 a year along with 3 weeks vacation time.
