Freezing rain coming here today followed by 8"-10" possible snow before ending Sat eve,,it's getting monotonous every weather system that comes across the continent affects the Midwest with snow every single time.
Join the club, I just heard the weather. We going to have snow through next Friday starting Sunday!!

Like Destinduck said the ice was all melting today. Ice in the shape of leaves was falling all around and our dog Seeka, who is particularly fond of ice, was having lots of fun playing with the ice and the slush.
Here is the chainlink fence to the backyard.

Aaron's truck had frosted glass.

My truck was icy too but not as bad as his.

The doors were iced shut.

The trees were all covered in ice and when they moved you could hear the ice crackling. It was neat.

The palm in the front yard looked neat. The palms at my grandmas looked bad but ours did well.

On one of the ice days the lights started flickering and Aaron, Seeka and I went for a walk to feed some goats that live at a nearby church. When we were walking back we saw a lady and her golden retriever. The lady told us to stay on the left side of the road because the power thing was on fire. So here is a photo of the power and the blue flame. The power truck came really quickly and it was fixed in just about no time.

Here is a photo my mom took this morning.

Here is the peafowl aviary this morning - I didn't get to see them yesterday.

All of them mainly stayed in a corner of the pen that was getting a lot of sunlight. That is Peep on the corner perch.

Here is the netting. It was low in some spots but it wasn't bad.

My cycad

I got out the big chunk of Ice from the peafowl's water.

This is the new perch Aaron and I made for the pen. The old one rotted so we put this one up. The netting came down over it and was stuck to the perch because of the Ice, so I pulled it up and fixed it and put something on top of the wood.

Most of my bamboo in the aviary was bent over. I might have to end up cutting it if it doesn't straighten out again.

In the time I spent with the peafowl today the netting melted and it returned to its normal height (except for the area the bent over bamboo is on). So I am not worried about the peas. I had lots of fun with the ice but I am happy to see it gone. I am tired of winter and I can't wait for everything to warm up! I want to go swimming and normally I am not a fan of going to the beach, but I am even looking forward to that right now.

Minx,,you got a "dusting" of ice as we midwesterners calls it.A very mild accumilation of ice.But your not used to it so any icing is diffrent for your area. We've had icing so bad here that the power lines atop power poles will become so heavy the bottom line gets to within 3'-4' of the ground. Our lines has all been replaced now with a much higher tensile strength line to keep from breaking during big ice storms so very seldom do the lines snap here anymore, but the amount they stretch is unbelievable.

Got about 3" of snow tonight, with 2-3" more tomorrow, then rain turning to freezing rain later tomorrow. But Tuesday there is reports of a new storm coming and dumping 12" of fresh snow here. Add in a day or 2 of winds at 20-30mph, and we'll have nice huge drifts again

The forecast keeps changing from bad to worse! Out if next 7 days we are going to get 7 or more inches of snow not to mention the freezing rain even freezing fog what ever-the-heck that is!

I'm having major issues with heat lites. The hoods the heat bulbs thread into are going south on me after about 2 weeks.Inside the porcelan bulb housing is the socket the heat bulb threads into. This is made of thin aluminum and is held to this socket by 3 hollow rivits. One of the two outer rivits connects on the other side to the ground wire. After about a week the bulb is loose and needs tightened up.The next time the bulb isn't lit it is still tight but the area around the rivit is burned thru the aluminum. So the entire socket is junk,,$8.99 down the tubes. I've had to buy 6 of these heat lite hoods-shields in the past 2 months.I'm buying more of them than heat bulbs.

Yes,they are made in China because right by the check out counter was several boxes of them waiting to be put on an almost empty shelf,,and MADE IN CHINA was in big print on the side of the boxes. I was going to put some 700degree silicon gasket sealer around the rivit and aluminum where they burn thru but there is copper in that sealer and if gets on the center contact there would be a direct short. I also thought of drilling the rivit all the way thru and putting a number 6 metal screw with a small flatwasher on the aluminum side, but it's sucjh a narrow area. The socket mold itself is too thin,,I think an old house lamp socket is heavier and wouldn't burn thru.
WEATHER UPDATE-FOXNEWS out of Chicago just said between the two storms coming this week,Monday-Tuesday and next weekend we can expect 24-30" of snow accumilation,,,,,,,,,help!
