It's going to be super cold.

Yep dropped 10 degrees, wind has died down and it isn't raining any more, looks like it might move on but who knows when ya live in this area

Sigh... windy and dreary here today, supposed to get up to the mid 50's, tomorrow is supposed to be more of the same. Send me some heat, please?

Working long hours :(. I miss you guys. I lurk now and then and think about posting... then wake up with my face planted by the keyboard. How have you been?

Thank you for the smile... I needed it. On lunch break at work right now. I figured by now you guys would have forgotten me.:)

Not cold enough here yet, apparently... We are having lovely, mild fall weather -- nice, since often our fall weather is windy and unpredictable. It's warmer this week than last week. When I went to feed this morning, the biggest pea, who incidentally is growing in the most lovely and currently longest train, decided he was more interested that showing off than eating breakfast. (I haven't seen anyone displaying in months.) So he monopolized the breakfast area, determinedly shaking his feathers at the hen and the chicken hens, and stamping his feet at the other males to get out of the way. I looked out 15 minutes later, and he was still going at it

Everyone else was eating -- but food is not on his mind

I've noticed before that these spells of warm weather seem to get them into breeding mood, even if it's in the middle of January. I guess I am going to have to start checking the nesting box again

What happens in India? Do the birds breed year round there? Is there a definite on/off cycle, with a breeding season and a non-breeding season? How much does the temperature vary from season to season?

And do we think that breeding cycles here in the US are more related to temperature or to day length? With chickens, it's supposed to be day length (hence lights in the hen house in the winter), but seems like my peas are more driven by temperature (especially when it has been cool and warms up) than by day length, but maybe I'm just imagining it?

Big Blue is still at it today -- he is VERY proud of his new tail feathers

But at least he stopped long enough to eat breakfast this morning

(He has another name, I just have to remember to ask PeaLover130 what it is -- I get mixed up between her names for the two blue boys... Thank goodness she is here to keep me straight...)
