Its hatch day and our incubator stopped working!

Help! its hatch day and our incubator stop working. We lost one chick already We put the rest of the eggs in the bath room with a heat lamp and hot mist humidifer and one more egg hatched. Any others ideas? How much humidity needs to be in the air?

Ideally at least 65% or higher is a good humidity for hatch. I think what you are doing is a pretty fair substitute if you can keep the temp and humidity up. Running a hot shower would also add to humidity if you need more.

Praying for your hatch. I know you are probably stressing. You are doing everything you can without a Bator. Are you able to go to the feed store and grab a replacement? What about a heating pad?!

Thank you for the input. We were a bit panicked this morning. We have had 3 chicks hatch since my post and 2 eggs are moving now. Such a relief!!

I had the power go out once, put my eggs in an egg carton in the oven on the top tray & bowl of water under/second tray with candles in a tray under the bowl of water, kept the oven door cracked open & PRAYED! Power was off for several hours and they all hatched a few days later! We do improvise when having to....Glad to hear they're hatching, enjoy the peeps

That's a great idea. Wish I would of heard it before I lost 14 eggs to the ice storm. Snow storm Jonas knocked out my power for three days.

I have all electric, the,power, was off 2 days,my grandson had my flash light.Trees were across the road.MY gennis 1588 has a adapter, that can be bought that hooks to a 12 volt battery,I havent 't got one yet.They were all silkies eges,broke my heart.
