4x6, nesting boxes will be off the side of the coop near the shed.

Do i really need to insulate the coop? just the roof and floor? weather is normally mildish in the northern PNW. i do have lots of free board insulation but limited plywood to cover the inside of coop.

great start!! we don't insulate and we're on the east coast right on the ocean. We use the deep litter method in the winter and only on the coldest of days (there were about 5-10) do I throw on the heat light to warm things up for a bit. It might also depend on what breed of chickens you have... mine are golden comets, silver laced wyandottes, RIR, and silver spangled hamburgs and they're all pretty winter hardy breeds.

i must admit i did not research my breeds. I might need to do that. We plan to also use the deep litter method too. Good to know i can skip that step.

Wow! You've done great!

Fabulous use of wood on hand and I can't wait to see it done!
