It's official, I can't wait anymore I'm going to plant inside

The weather has been in upper 70 and lower 80's the past few day and I just want to plant outside but I know we will have some more freezing weather.

I got the little fake greenhouse set up and broccoli (why do so many people hate the stuff? It's delicious!) spinach, lettuces, beets (probably a mistake to start them but I'm going to try) I'll start tomatoes this week-end. These 70 degree days are killing me.

I would love to send you some of the -10 that we had the last couple of days - but it doesn't ship too well.

My stack of seed catalogs is building ... working hard not to open them up and blow my whole gardening allowance. I want to order some blueberries, blackberries and raspberries this spring. And I still have tomato, pepper, cucumber, bean and herb seeds left from last year. Need to take and inventory before I buy and more seeds.

Yea! I've got sprouts! All my tomatoes and pumpkins have terminated in their coke bottle terrariums. Big for me because last year I lost all my seedlings to some fungus in my mini greenhouses.

any pics of your coke bottle terrarium? Last spring after a hatch I used my cooler bator to sprout seeds, it did an excellent job. Kept the temps in the 70's bottom watered them and had a good start on the garden.

These are just a couple of my window sills of terrariums. I went really basic. Just bottles with the top cut off, filled with garden soil, add water, cover with ceran wrap and seal with packing tape. I really didn't think that I would get anything to sprout as I seem to have a really bad time with germinating seedlings inside. I normally just plant straight into the ground. Since these did work I'm going to look into different designs for future years.

nice. I like to experiment with different ways to grow things. I have a big garden, but I like to grow stuff in containers. Hanging pots. Last year I was in the hospital, and laying there looking at the iv's in me I decided to use an iv method to water my plants, It worked good except it was slow. This year I'm going a different route with watering. I like to collect rain water for the garden and last year was pretty dry and I used up all my water, so this year I'm going to be a bit more conservative with my water.

I started them in water, but I also washed them every day and changed the water every day. My celery didn't transplant as well, but the onions are doing great.

Did you start your potato in water or just drop it in the soil? I'm trying to figure out the best way to start mine. Everything I start them in water, I get bugs

I couldn't wait any longer either! This is my second year of gardening. Last year got me completely smitten and I cannot wait to do bigger better things this year! I started off some tomato seeds in egg containers, but plan to get some more seeds next week. I'd like to try some raspberries and pumpkins in addition to the usual veggies. We'll see how it goes! I also just put some wild bird seeds in a jar tonight to see if I can sprout anything for my chicks that arrive next week.
