Its official...my chickens might be a little slow

Do you have a rooster?
No rooster.
Brooder raised chicks may have little or no idea what the story is, and will learn after an attack. Broody raised chicks, or birds included in a flock of older wiser individuals, will run and hide.
I have also lost an occasional youngster (usually an overbold cockerel!) to a hawk, and it's a lesson learned by the survivors.
Mary
They were raised by their mama. I wonder I'd it cuz they see them so much they just keep an eye on them. Or like I said before my chickens are slow lol. When they are not in the covered area they run and hide.

Sometimes they are clueless....this was right after fox ran into fencing.

I will be interested to see how this all works out for you. I, too, am relying on bird netting to keep my girls safe. The eagle did come and sat in a tree nearby checking it out, but since I was walking up he flew away. The eagles will go after anything right now and they have not come back to my chicken run. I think they see the netting as a more sturdy barrier than it actually is. At first I worried they would try to fly through and get tangled up in it. That wouldn't be good at all. Best of luck! I hope your girls are safe!!!:fl And mine too!
