Its Saturday. Im out of food. What can I feed till Monday. Quail..

Well I put the rest of my food in their dishes.. By morning they will most likely be out.. The feed store isnt open till monday.. Im short on cash so I dont want to have to buy just regular bird seed at the store.. Right now at the house I have dog food.. And I know that some people grind up cat food to feed to button quail.. Would it be bad to grind up some dog food just to tide them over.. And to feed them lettuce and apples..

Any suggestions..

Sounds fine to me. It's high in protein. If it's a cheap dog food, it'll be high in grain content, too.

The dog food will work in a pinch but they need some higher protein... if you have eggs, scramble or hard boil them and give those.. that will give them some more protein.
They like veggies , etc too... I think a combo of all that will get them through to Monday fine.

I have western family (cheap) kibbles and bones.. The dog food has 21% Protien..

I already have some boiled eggs in the fridge.. I guess they are going to be some very spoiled Button Quail tommarrow.. At least until Monday morning...

Edited to add.. Should I also feed them just a tiny bit of wheat bread.. Or is that a no no with quail..
