It's snowing!

My Dad and my uncle rode their motorcycles from Ontario to Calgary to help one of my cousins reshingle her roof. Then they headed to BC to visit my other cousin. They're in Chilliwack tonight, and are dreading the ride back to Ontario.

They're one extreme or the other though. Two winters ago they rode from New Orleans all the way to Argentina!

I'm pretty happy it's 25C here in Ontario right now. My chickens are out looking for bugs as we speak. Although I am a weirdo who loves snow. Snowmobiling and skijoring (horses and dogs) are the best ways to spend a winter day!

We’ve always enjoyed the snow , snow shoeing , skiing ,tobogganing and skating ... fun fun !!

I do my best to help my animals threw it ( cats, dogs , pigs, chickens , ducks and my kennel dogs ), but we do heat our house with a wood stove and leave the dog door open some days

Yes DAD we do heat the entire world !!!

Yes, you read right. It's snowing in Canada!

I haven't even bought a heated waterer!
Or a 2 mile long cord to reach my coop! (Okay, maybe only 100 feet, but same difference)

Sigh.

So... what low-power heating mat would you recommend for keeping my eggs from freezing? I have 40 laying hens, so I get eggs every time of the day.

I wish it were snowing here...

I'll admit, I do love hiking in the snow with my dogs. It's so quiet and beautiful, and the woods are completely empty except for us.

Dads and heating: My dad used to ask, "What? We own stock in the power company?" lol.

I must correct myself..
I do enjoy winter although this cold and snow could of waited till I was ready for it..
Hose is frozen this morning and I don't have my pens prepared for wintering my Ducks..
Horses are fine..

Now when you're not ready for snow, it can be a bother. But if I have my heated waterer, my coops are clean, and I have some cracked corn, I'm more than ready!
