It's thriving now

Does anyone have a clue what's going on with this bird? It's a Rudd Ranger, about 4 weeks old. It had severe pasty butt. I thought we were gonna lose it. With some vigilance and TLC it rallied. The weird down was just on its leg. Now it includes leg, abdomen and up one side of its neck.
I'm more curious then concerned. This is my first year having birds. We started with 12 layers and decided to do meaties too.

I’m a quail person, my chicks are fully fledged at four weeks so take this with a shaker of salt, I guess I’m not sure what your actual question is. Is it the red skin or the darker colored down/feathers coming in that has you concerned? Dark feathers would be exactly that. Red skin (if it isn’t just the picture) would be likely some sort of rash or skin irritation (sunburn, heat rash, mites, allergies, yeast or bacterial infection…).
