IM getting 2 chantecler,2 light brahmas and 2 dominiques,a few white midget turkeys on Wed.

I have turkey, quail, silkie, showgirl and wheaton oegb eggs coming the end of this week for the incubator.

I am the taker carer of my flock. My wife would not know if I added 50 more chickens to the barn.

However, there would be that ONE DAY when she finally puts two and 50 together and asks the question:

Did you get more birds without me knowing about it?
Do you know about this sudden number of birds ?
OR the worst would be:
Well, did you have a hand in this buddy, well did you ?
(I would then know the jig was up)

Any one of the three will eventually come to light.

And of course I will have to bow my head, speak in as
little of a voice that I can and mutter: yes.

So, just because daddy is having a business meeting, does not mean that daddy is going to know your business.

Well, if you can face this possibility, as I would gladly do,

GET MORE CHICKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I skipped the "just a couple of chicks" and went right for the big guns. Our first 100 chicks are suppose to be here tomorrow and 20 guineas the next day. DH grew up with chicks and wanted fresh eggs so he was all for the chicks and I didn't tell him how much I ordered til after. By my math it was cheaper to order more, the more you order the bigger the discount so it all worked out in my head, just made sense. I ordered them all straight run and I know they aren't all going to make it, not with that many chicks, we are bound to lose at least a couple

and we will keep the nicest roosters and the rest will be in the freezer by winter. So with my calculations we should have around 50, give or take a few, through next winter.

I was gonna start with 12 2 months ago. I now have 27(thank goodness 6 will go to the freezer). I tried to join chickens annonamus but the recording said they were all out buying chicks. Hmmm Just can't get no help with this problem. LOL

I have to stop by TSC for cat food on the way home today..I have 10 BO's and BA's in the brooder at home and I'm going on a road trip this week-end to pick up some others I can't find here locally..please let me find my way to the cat food with my eyes shut....I haven't finished the coop and it's already it being outgrown...

I think I'm okey for awhile, while Hubby is gone. He doesn't usually pay too much attention to the chickens, BUTTTT, he might notice when I start adding on to the coop. I might want to keep some of my breeds seperate. When he calls I run to the bathroom so he doesn't hear the little cheeping. Last time he was gone I got a cockatiel and he would ask "Is that a bird I hear", I'd say it's on TV. Soon he was asking how come the same bird was always on TV. I think the "lPretty Reggie Bird" gave us away. He doesn't really mind the chickens, I used to collect horses and mules so he thinks he's ahead with the chickens, and he does like the eggs. After 46 years together, he's figuring things out. He's a good sport. He'll probably help me with the coop. It does sound like quite a few people on this forum completely understands. And Fudgie, I love the way YOU shop. Keep the peeps coming, Jan
