Itsybitsie says hello

Congratulations on your first experience with "chicken math." I also started with a number in my head and exceeded it immediately upon actually seeing the available chickens.

I don't have any experience with Cinnamon Reds, but I've been quite happy with Sapphire Gems. For me, they have been pleasant, fairly docile girls who lay lovely, large eggs.

Welcome to BYC, and best wishes with building your run!

Thanks, everyone. I walked into Tractor Supply again and they had a few new varieties of cute chicks. They look so tiny compared to my month-old girls. For about 30 seconds I was trying to decide if I really wanted 2 or 4 more since my henhouse is supposed to hold 10. But I don't want to get overwhelmed. I'm no spring chicken myself! (That is no doubt a familiar well-worn term here!)

Today they got their first outside field trip to the backyard. We corralled them in and let them experience all the new. It wasn't long before one found a worm and then another came to see what all the excitement was about. They were happy exploring for almost an hour before we brought them back inside.

Also I don't know why, but I can't seem to find a mention of a Cinnamon Red breed, not even from the TSC website. I did see Cinnamon Queen, but I am positive the sign said Red when I bought them. Maybe it's the same thing? I will have to ask an employee who maybe will know.
