Itty bitty egg in the nesting box has me stumped.

Went and checked the nesting boxes tonight and we got our first egg from our Easter Egger and in the same spot was the tiny little egg in the picture below. I have no idea if it came from a chicken or if some other bird found it's way into the box and laid it there.


 
Looks like a little "wind egg" from one of your brown egg laying birds.
 
A "wind egg"? Like the chicken is getting her second wind for egg laying come spring?

No, it's kind of a hiccup in the laying process. It will be all white, with no yolk. Another term for them is fart egg.
 
Ya, I had one of those eggs yesterday from a hen that has been laying for 7 weeks. I call it a witch egg cuz that;s the term I heard first but I have read them called fairy, fart or wind eggs too.
 
Thanks folks! We're glad to hear that it doesn't indicate either a chicken in distress or a wild bird in there laying eggs.
