Itty Bitty First Eggs

I went home for lunch and checked on the chickies.... I found three more eggs in there (5 total today including the 2 I found this morning that were soft shelled)! No bigguns today... just littuns :0)

Here is my "collection" of little eggs so far (minus the 3 I found today at lunch).

And the first biggun from yesterday.

Wow! That biggun' is sure big! Very nice

On the duck food - I am not sure if it would be a problem for the chickens or not. If you're worried, I would switch out the duck food for something with less protein in it. Better to be on the safe side.

I was rather impressed with the big egg (especially for a 17 week old pullet!) That is so far the only one, but I got 4 eggs today (before noon) so I think the rest are beginning to catch on. 2 of the eggs were even side by side in one of the nests. I saw one of the Red Stars clucking around inspecting the corners of the coop and all of the bottom nests this morning when I opened them up.

I am going to pull the duck food for now... not because I am really worried, mainly because the ducks don't seem to be eating it and would like to hold it until they are separate and will be eating it.... they seem to be totally happy with the layer feed for now.

Still getting itty bitty eggs! Got another biggin today too with 3 smaller ones.

One of the smaller ones was deformed tho... one side had a flat spot... kinda strange

Just assuming that first eggs can come out many different shapes and sizes since their bodies are still 'learning' how to make eggs. Definitely interesting :)

Mine started out small, progressing to medium ..and every once in a while I get this extra-large (well twice so far). The girls are just egg-practicing I guess.
