yeah, I was thinking that between selling on CL and just giving them away to friends, I can keep my stock down to manageable numbers... you know, like 262 or so...

I have a LG still air with turner that I borrowed....I have really had good luck with it. The Hum and Temp has stayed very consistent. So...I am happy. I know a lot of people do not like them cause they can be unreliable sometimes...but this one seems to be doing good....in fact..just had my first chick zip!!!
Will install a fan after these hatch..enjoy...oh...everytime I buy eggs on auction I say...last ones....again....again AND again...i finally just gave up and gave in!!!!

Good luck with that! I was only going to have 28 chickens ...max...I now have 34 ... 6 ducks with 6 more on the way in april...and ummm, 18 turkey poults coming...and oh yeah,4 more chicks also coming in april..... and the ones in the bator now

The ducks will be the messiest. Funny, but dirty. Good luck. We had some Cayugas and had to sell them, they loved to play in the water. It gets really cold here and they made the chicken bedding a frozen rock of shavings. Not nice for the birds that sleep on the floor. Love them in the summer though and you shouldn't have too much trouble with freezing temps.

and yes,they are messy but they are housed and penned separately from the chickens.I have 3 cayuga ducks and 2 mallard ducks,one drake. My DH surprised me the other day and ordered me 4 anconas and 2 fawn and white runners! I am STOKED! As for the temps...IF IT EVER BECOMES SPRING IN NY...we should be fine
