Last night my daughter volunteered to lock up the coop and count heads. She asked me how many chickens were out there now? (we just added a couple). I told her 13 plus the one baby our broody just hatched. So she said, "So about 13 and a half? haha!"

My 8 year old son, in all seriousness said, "But mom, I thought it took EIGHT babies to count for one whole chicken?"

Good boy.

It's bad enough we are addicts, then we teach our skills to the next generation!

Good boy!

Too funny! I love it. I've been learning all the chicken vocabulary since I have been on here...words like "Roo" "RIR" "Broody" and so on....so now I've been quizzing my 9 year old and he's learning quickly. Gotta love em'! ....oh, and love the kids too

I didn't think that "fuzzy butts" counted as chickens. I also don't think Roos or Hens with names count. After all Roos can't lay eggs and as everyone knows hens with names are not chickens they are either family members or pets.

Only problem I have is explaining how so few chickens eat SO MUCH FEED.

And just think, the teachers at the schools I went to thought they knew how to do math. I bet they can't even count chickens correctly.
