Ive gone and done it now!

What a great trio and a good find. They're a very striking breed to look at and an ideal medium size. You never know if they settle quickly they may re-clutch as there's still time.

Here's a picture of one I saw at the National Show a few years ago alongside a White Chinese to give you a comparison in size.

Thank you guys. We were surprised that they had not been snapped up. They were advertised for 10 days when we saw the advert. Did not pay a huge amount for them considering goslings are costing £20 each.

I was hoping that they might start laying again but the previous owner did not have much luck with the eggs in Jan. She just sat on them till day 35 and nothing happened so they took the eggs away (the goose i mean!) but apparently they did raise sucessful some goslings with the owner before.

We are in no hurry. We are happy to start with goslings next year (fingers crossed) as we would like to breed some goslings. We need to build a decent shed for them anyway so that is going to take time.

Beautiful goose love the coloring.

I recently collected three Brecon Buffs that required temorary and hopefully long term re-homing from Chris and Mike Ashton I have never had Geese before but love these three already.

All three are adult birds we did not get the Gander till later as initially Chris was going to keep him for his original owner in case he wanted him back sooner
Chris clipped the Girls wings for us and I simply let them have full access to my secure paddock and pond from day one as they could not fly away

The took to our place like Ducks to water

A couple of week later we were offered the Gander as he was not settling.
He has not been clipped but I doubt now re united he would ever abandon his girls.

He can easily get off the ground though when call them in to bed he semi flies over with the girls flapping in hot pursuit

He is incredibly tame!

They have spent most of the day today at one of my field boundary fences
they are fascinated by our new arrival Rolo next door.

Very pretty trio you aquirred and I wish you the best of luck in the spring with them breeding for you. Must have meant to be that you were to get them if they had been up for sale 10 days. Somethimes it is just kismet....

Congrads on them.

Does anyone know whether West of England Geese and Shetland are the same breed, or used to be the same breed? I read about West of Englands in my book by Barbara Soames, and I have been wondering about any possible relationship ever since.

I think Im right in saying that the pilgrim is a descentant of the West of England geese. Not sure about the shetland. I had a quick read on a webpage and it appears they are separate breeds. I think they are all autosexing though and probably look very similar (im guessing).
