Iv'e got a sick rooster - Please advise.....

One of our roosters got some kind of severe respiratory thing yesterday. Lots of wheezing and gasping for breath and his face is purple. Doesn't seem to have spread to the rest of the flock and egg production is normal. Someone mentioned avian flu to me which sounds very scary. Can anyone please advise me about what this might be and what I should do about it? - Thank you

Cant tell you what to do but I would separate him immediately and keep him warm and hydrated--maybe some electrolytes, until you find out exactly what is wrong. Good luck! Terri O

yes I have him separated....

No other symptoms except some diarrhea. Actually he his looking much better today! He was eating last night and his face has returned to normal red. I am wondering how long I need to keep him separated now. Any advise?
