It's so cold in Michigan still (and elsewhere, I know!) and wet!
I've got 6 bantam chicks, feathered out enough to be moved outside, but the weather is impossible. Pouring, cold rain, freezing temps, ugh! I really did not want to have to string up brooder lamps in the coop house. May be forced too though.

It's a good thing I live alone and no one can complain about my indoor chicken coop.
Maybe next week Spring will arrive here?

Yes, indeed. We got 6" of snow day before yesterday. Still, the temps are fine for my 5 week Rock chicks. They are feathered out and heading out to the grow out pen in the barn today or tomorrow. Temps are scheduled to rise over the next week to pleasant enough. 30's over night and near 55 during the day, up here near Grayling. Out they go!!! I brood in the garage, as there's not any way my wife would allow our home to be a chicken coop!

Golly you bring back fond memories of odors beyond belief in our livingroom 20 years ago! Hubby had brought home a few chicks & a couple of ducks that required thanks to Mi's changing weather a month of indoor rearing. If it will make you feel any better I had to relive it just a few weeks ago down here in Az. This time they stayed out in the garage he he.

Yes, I did forget to mention the STINK!!

I think tomorrow though, I will run the cord and light out to the coop.....
Now I have to get wire for the tops of the brooders, as they are now able (just this morning) to perch on the brooders' sides and fly out.

I did not have this weather problem last year...I know, what a fool I am thinking the Spring weather would be the same year to year
