I've had a Handicapped Duck for over 4 months. What do I do now?

I have a disabled Brahma that was like this. She's teeny tiny, under muscled, and cannot get around well. I feed and water her by herself a few times a day and made the appointment to put her down but she just wants to live so badly I didn't take her.

No amount of splinting or supplements have helped. I do a little therapy with moving her bad leg and practicing walking. Youll just have to decide for yourself if you can baby her for life.

when you say now what are you thinking you want to give up her. Just wondering about your question
No, no way. I just don't know what more I can do to help her but I can't spend a lot of money on her. She may not live long but I want to give her the best life because if not for me she might not have been alive longer than a day. I want to try to bring her around some ducks but there is absolutely no way I'm allowed to get anymore. My mom and me want some but my dad wouldn't even have allowed her if we had asked
But I MIGHT be allowed to get some if I do them in 4-H and then hopefully she could be with her own kind. I don't even know how she would take to them though because she bites the cats and dogs, which I get-they're predators, but she also bites the chickens and thought that it might be good if they get along but she doesn't really care.

I will. I will for her and for myself. Like yours, she wants to live so badly and if she won't give up even though it's probably hardest on her, then I won't give up either. Its not fair for me to call the shots on her life, especially since we got this far. Plus I wouldn't know what to do without her now:love

If you do get her a duck friend get one much younger and smaller. I bonded a silkie to my disabled chick by penning them up together while the silkie was little and now the silkie kind of acts as a buffer between her and the other hens and walks slowly while the disabled girl hops along. They sleep on the floor of the coop together.

An older duck will probably harass her and do more harm than good.

That's what I was thinking! Awe that's so sweet:lovethank you for helping me too!
