i'm currently red eyed and drippy nosed, but it gets me so sad when i think about how my 6 chickens just finally started laying eggs, but then we're forced to give them away. The thought of it just makes me so emotional. How in the world am I supposed to cope!? My baby chicks are one of the most important living creatures to me right now.

Of course I had to post a picture of my lil pumpkins..

why do you have to get rid of them ? That is very sad.

Maybe you can get a couple of indoor pets like cornix quail, but only two or three. They act just like chickens and can be tamed. If not, make a goal to get a good job and move to country one day.

because whenever they lay eggs they get incredibly loud, also for some reason every morning I wake up to hear them squawking ( cute! ) Once one of my chickens flew into my neighbors yard.. I'm pretty sure I'm not getting pets like quail anytime soon because my mom completely hates chickens and most likely hates quails , but thanks for the suggestion! We have less then 15 days to find a home for them and were looking toward one of my relatives, the thing is, the area where she lives is incredibly hot, especially since August has just started, I'm scared my pumpkins won't make it.. :( But thanks for all your sympathy..

I'm very sorry that you can't keep your chickens.

I live in one of the hottest places in the US and chickens do just fine with an open air coop, shaded, of course, the deeper the better, and a little puddle of water to walk around in and then lay in in the cool soil when the water eventually soaks into the dirt. Some like pans of water to step into or frozen water bottles to lay near. They love a nice rain shower from the hose in the early morning and late afternoon.

Maybe getting hatching eggs to hatch, raise, and sell when they are young (with little noise) could be an option?
