I am with you boxermom, I crave sushi too. I love it. Especially with the pickled ginger and a dab of wasabi.
I've had dahl, goat meat, something called paya, which translates to feet. The paya was baby goats feet I think braised in garlic, ginger, garam masala and lots of fresh cilantro. It was good, but lots of gelatin in it, made my lips stick together.
I also *love* mango pickle or achar. It's on the spicy side but soooo good. Actually just thinking about it makes my mouth water.
I have made my own sushi, but can't get the right rice so sticky rice wasn't quite right and no one guarantees the fresh tuna to be eaten raw. I've used cooked shrimp and crab, but the tuna is so much better!
I have never watched:
Lost
most reality shows
Titanic
Real Housewives from anywhere
I have never eaten:
sushi
haggis
Indian food (only because there's no where to get it here)
frog legs (tho I watched my Grandfather fry some)
crawfish/crayfish/crawdads--whatever they're called
gumbo
I LOVE:
potato salad sandwiches
liver & onions
Cuban food
Italian food
Chinese food
seafood (espec. salmon)
There are 2,777 Indian restaurants in Central Florida, y'all.
And...I am losing some of my happy enthusiasm for 'eating anything' as the list goes on, and finding, NO...I have not eaten chicken feet. And a few other gelatinous things. I am humbled and ashamed and bow down. But this still is a very cool thread.
I am proud to have adventurous eaters - DH and 2 DS.
I have not eaten the local hotdog place's hounds of hell dogs. the contest is to eat 2 or 3 of these hotdogs with the owner's custom hot sauce. Must be kept down, etc., rules, and some people - like DS - go for speed too. You win, you get your photo on the wall and a really cool t-shirt. Then get sick for two days. It's so scalding pepper hot, I will never, ever try it.
