Ivermectin Dosage - homework done, need clarification please!

Drops are a great way to underdose. Best not to do it.


The "minimum" effective pour-on dose is 0.5mg/kg
1 / 2.2 x 0.5 / 5 = ~0.045 ml per pound.

The dose I would use is 1 mg/kg
1 / 2.2 x 1 / 5 = ~0.045 ml per pound.

I would give the following:

• 4.5 pound duck
  • 4.5 / 2.2 x 1 / 5 = 0.4 ml
• 6 pound duck
  • 6 / 2.2 x 1 / 5 = 0.55 ml
• 40 pound turkey
  • 40 / 2.2 x 1 / 5 = 3.64 ml

Is this by mouth? since you are saying give I assume this is by mouth?

I've been using Ivermectin pour-on as a preventive for mites with my chickens for years but on the neck.

Using Ivermectin pour on
5mg per mL

One group of rescue ducks that have an active infestation.
The rest of the birds on the property just as maintenance/ to play it safe despite no signs of mites.
No one is laying rn, due to age or the season, depending on the group- so egg withdrawal is not currently a concern.

@Eggcessive, on another thread, recommends 0.1ml per 2# of weight.

Which is much less than 0.1 per 2#
(That would have been 0.6 mL for a 6# duck)

I don’t want to overdose anyone!
But I’m dealing w adult ducks and turkeys, ranging from 4.5# to 40#

All of these people give fantastic advice, but, I don’t know which way to go on this....

Anyone who has had success getting the mites to go away/ stay away - please let me know what was successful for you!

This is what I was told about the ivermectin horse paste. I got 1ml syringes
"The paste is 1.87% ivermectin, which means one ml of the paste has 18.7 mg ivermectin in it.

The math:
pounds divided by 2.2, times 1, divided by 18.7 = number of ml to give.

Examples:
1 pound - 1 / 2.2 x 1 / 18.7 = 0.024 ml
5 pounds - 5 / 2.2 x 1 / 18.7 = 0.012 ml
10 pounds - 1 / 2.2 x 1 / 18.7 = 0.24 ml

do you give more than one dose and if so how many days apart?

So that calculation is
0.1ml for a 2 pound chicken of Ivermectin pour on ? We had a battle with one Rooster but everyone was cleaned, coops ground everything everywhere. Frist the Rooster was washed in a warm Epson salt bath with dog shampoo. Those bugs couldnt move fast enough. Into the water! Matt had at least 3 baths that day. Then cut the eggs off of him. Then we lined the chickens up weigh each of them to be wormed. What a day that was. Here what we used. Except the invermegtin which I would like to do today. 0.01ml on the back of the neck. thats where they all were.

Minimum topical dose: 2 / 2.2 x .05 / 5 = .0909090909 (round up to 0.1ml)

I would give twice that.
