Sounds like a flea to me....I treat the Duck house but not the Birds with dusting powder.....Put it around edges and under all bedding.....

Did you know that permethrin dusting powder and spray can be used on ducks?

Fleas jump, lice and mites crawl, so unless it jumped, it was almost certainly one of the many types of lice that waterfowl and poultry can get.

Not true.....I had fleas in my Duck house last summer...Treated the Coop and not the Birds...No more fleas.....

Fleas hide in the bedding and do not live on the host...Only to feed and jump off....

The OP described lice, not fleas.

Some lice *are* brown, especially the bigger ones.

@shiningeyes , if your ducks have lice or mites, and what you described crawling on your arm sounds like a louse, the ivermectin with treat them. If they have a duck house that will need to be stripped of bedding and sprayed with permethrin spray.

If by chance what you saw was a flea you will need to treat the ducks and their house with permethrin spray because ivermectin does not treat fleas.
