My chickens have mites. My vet gave me ivermectin to treat them and I did yesterday.
Now I am also wondering if the last lot may also have worms as the vet commented that the one I'd taken (mild cross beak trim) was very thin. This made me look twice at one of my others who I had been thinking lately wasn't chunking up like its sisters. They do have both runny and normal poos but more runny than my existing birds. (And much smellier) I have never wormed any of them before.
Anyhoo. I've been reading about worming on here and the recommendation seems to be worm with something else then follow up with the ivermectin.
So having now given one dose of ivermectin due to the mites already as a first course of treatment rather than followup what do I do now re the possible worms?
Should I still be dosing with something else as well?
Is all this worming dangerous in any way and so should I be getting them tested to confirm they actually have them first? Especially due to the very skinny crossbeak perhaps not being up to it?
