Lots of info on this site involving scaly leg mites, ivermectin etc. I treated all my chickens orally with 1 to 9 diluted ivermection, 0.1cc per lb. And instead of using mineral oil for immediate relief topically on the feet I soaked the feet in a neem oil solution.
Anyone have any opinions on the use of neem... neem powder, oil, bark or pellets?
Also, to eat the eggs or not eat the eggs after the ivermectin dose? I plan to do at least one follow up does of ivermectin 10 days after initial dose.
My outbreak of scaly leg mites is minor.... I saw it mostly on some older chickens and 2 hens that seem to be the chosen ones, the favorites, for mating... You all know how rough it can be on the favorites and I'm thinking they may be a little weakened from it and thus a better host for opportunistic parasites.
I hate to toss several weeks of eggs, especially since I do wildlife rehabilitation and could use them for raccoons, opossum, gulls etc.
Would love some opinions!
Thanks
