Ivomec for goats

Anyone here use Ivomec for their goats? What is your preferred method....do you give this to them orally or do you inject? I wanted to give this to my two does for worms. The package says it is for cattle/swine...what dose do you give goats?

We give our Boer and Kiko does 12ml orally of Noromectin (a cattle pour-on dewormer). The half grown goats get 6ml, babies get 4ml. The active ingredient in Noromectin and Ivomec is ivermectin, so they're probably pretty similar.

We were told to give the wormer orally by a wisened old goat keeper. He says it works better because it goes right to the digestive tract full strength, rather than gradually through the blood.

I just bought my goats in Mar. My freshened had been wormed chemically then. Not sure if it was before or after freshening. The woman I bought them from uses Hoegger herbal wormer in the summer while she's milking. I'm using it too. Had one tested, no O&P. I was just wondering if I had to do it chemmically if there was something I could use. 30-60 days is alot of dumped milk. I suppose I could plan that when I'm bottle feeding couldn't I? This is ALL so overwhelming!

I thought I heard somewhere you could though kill off to much at one time though....all the good and bad?

Can someone tell me if these can all 3 be used on goats and at what dose for each kind....thank you!

Why do some say they 10mg per ml and to dose the higher one at 75 lbs per ml and then the other brand says 5mg per ml and to dose at a lower rate of 1ml per 22lbs. What is the difference....seems like it should be the other way around to me. This is for swine per the labels.

You use 3Xs the recommended weight dosage. So if you have a 100 pound goat you give it 300 pounds worth of wormer. there are different reasons to use either oral or injectable. Injectable will also kill lice and mites. I have not had a lice or mite problem yet, so I have only given orally. I use the apple flavored ivermectin and they suck it down! It is also safe if you accidently overdose. I believe there is no milk withdrawl on Ivermectin, but that is not the case on many other wormers.
