Ivomec (scaly leg mites)...*PICS ADDED*

Interesting topic for me, because I've never dealt with parasites, internal or external, until now.

I have some new chickens and they were treated with the pour on ivermectin for cattle last Friday, just 8 hours before delivery. I have been searching the internet for a couple of hours now and have found egg withdrawal periods of 7 days to 45 days.

They are in quarantine, so knowing which eggs to toss is easy. I'm still not sure how long I should be doing it?

I just ordered Ivomec Eprinex through Jeffers , sounds like too long of a waiting period for egg use with ivermectin. This is the stuff, right?

Great info folks!

One more question, has anyone ever used Frontline or Bio Spot for dogs or cats?
The ingredients are permethrin & methoprene for the Bio Spot and it says fipronil is the ingredient for Frontline.

Just curious.

I've been looking everywhere for a doseage chart for chickens. I want to worm them with ivermectin because they have scaly leg mites but i can not figure out how much to administer to each bird. Please Help...

I just cured one bird. I did not quarantine because only one bird had them, and she had them BAD. This makes me think it's like flystrike with dogs or mosquitoes for humans; for some reason they hassle some individuals and leave the rest alone. Anyway, one poor hen looked like she had very fat gray legs and was obviously in pain. She is a lavender Orp and so the darn things matched her leg color perfectly and I didn't see it until I could see her having trouble walking. So I just treated her by putting 6 drops of injectible ivomec
under one wing and also 6ccs to a gallon of water for everyone. Did this once and the bird looks fine. I did it a second time two weeks later just to make sure. She is looking great; no sign of anything on her legs.
