Ivomectin and then tetracycline?

Flock: 13 ranging in age from 10 wks to 18 months +
8 LF and 5 bantam
Symptoms: worst: clear discharge from nose, raspy breathing, acting punky, but still active and eating /drinking
least: none
Feces: all seen look WNL

NO NASTY SMELL (yay!)

Noticed first sneezes about 3 weeks ago - no other symptoms and sand in the run so.....
Noticed chickens with clear nasal discharge yesterday

gave Ivermectin 1.87% paste - "pea sized blob" for full grown leghorn hen - adjusted blobs down for smaller birds

I have tetracycline on hand and will consider treating if no improvement after Ivermectin

When should I start to see improvement if the problem is parasitic?
How long to wait before starting antibiotics?


What to take for my blood pressure - which is rising every time I see my poor little Jap bantam snort?

(am considering Scotch!)

Update: One of my Jap hens is going downhill - fast! One eye held almost closed - face looks yellow - crop empty and no interest in eating or drinking. I have her separated now.

Please - any help out there?

My best guess is an infection of some sort will play a role in their problem. Discharge is clear ....hmm but the problem is respiratory. tetracycline probably would be a good idea...I would make it an acute dose for the first days supply.

Do chickens get lung worms?

I'm pretty new myself - so have no idea regarding lung worms...
I don't know if adding antibiotic to her system now would be more beneficial or detrimentaljust now
Hate to admit it, but I'm also a bit too teary to properly do the math & calculate dosage at the moment. I know, that's no help to Yoko the hen...will pull it together soon....

there is a chicken lung worm its called Gape worm
im still looking up symptoms

i do know that a chicken under stress can develop secondary infections rather easily.

Thanks - the Ivomectin should take care of many worms, including gape worm.

Antibiotics in the AM I guess.....
