I have only used the Ivermectin one time-just a few weeks ago. I thought that was going to do the trick. Yes, maybe you are right that I need to treat sooner than 7 days because it was 7 days ago today that I did the whole coop cleaning/bird dusting thing and bugs were back yesterday. I'm definitely going for the flea/tick bath this time.
All of the posts I read here at BYC said retreat in 7-10 days, some say 2 weeks.
My coop is totally enclosed in wire-all sides and top- so there is virtually no contact with wild birds, which is really no guarantee, I guess.
So I think my next plan of attack is: re-clean/ spray/dust coop---flea/tick bath. Should I do another dose of Ivermectin or do you think this is overkill?
We need to get these darlings ready for our county fair!!!
Thank you for your input. I had chickens when I was a kid and now I have had this flock for over four years. This is my first battle with the bugs!
