Where did you get them?
What color eggs do they lay?


I'll request pictures of these, because I always love to see them

I got 2 trios from Murray McMurray about 8 or 9 years ago. Lost one male to a predator, one female yo a freak accident and gave one female to a new 4Her a few years ago. Still have one trio.

They lay white eggs, though obviously the hens don't lay very often at all anymore because of their age. Thinking I might throw any they do into an incubator though because they aren't available anywhere else it seems.

Hatchery plan is to order from IDEAL today and add on to my shipment their Blue Stars and Blue Laced Red Cornish when they update them to be available. They're still saying unavailable until 2022 because new years was over a weekend and they're closed on weekends.
Maybe Hoover's too.

CS poultry and Dunlap will be tomorrow and Murray McMurray (If my friend gets me her freaking order form) will be either tomorrow or Tuesday

I will post orders as I make them so that they're accurate. Let's hope I get extras this year for once.

Will also post my mystery birds a few weeks after they arrive to make sure they're doing okay before I get too excited

I found them at Welp, and got a few because the description said they lay "chalk-white eggs." But the pullet I raised to laying age did NOT lay white eggs! She laid about the same shade of cream or light brown that I'd been getting from Japanese, Old English Game, and Cornish bantams. Since I only had the one, I wasn't sure how common my experience was.

If yours are that old, I'm thinking you've got some good genes for longevity there! That might be an extra reason to hatch a few, if they produce any eggs at all.

Yeah, they're officially the oldest birds I have besides my splash Cochin mama and maybe my EE (mother and daughter were exactly alike, and one was taken. So this one is either the same age as the bantams or 1-2 years younger).

My pheonixes might be close to that age though. I know Westeros is at least 6, probably older and I think I might have one original girl left out of the 3? One got taken by a feral cat and the other we think had a tumor or cancer. She died while nesting.

I also noticed my Cochin bantams from welp lay different eggs than they should. I don't know if the barred had started to lay, but Crispy laid welsummer colored eggs last year. Dark brown speckles over a brown cream color

We lost the 'hermaphrodite' Pheonix last night. I think it just got too cold and she never fully bounced back after brooding this past summer.

Going to do a necropsy later today to see if she really was a hermaphrodite or not.

HawkBait is the bearded Buff laced, and then the trio are MeanGirl, UglyGirl (the one with the smaller crest and no wattles) and LoudBoy. LoudBoy may or may not be replaced this spring, if I get a nicer looking male. Females will not be replaced unless necessary.

LoudBoy also is the one that has a bone horn in the middle of his comb. One interesting thing about Mean and Ugly is that Mean has a black under coat and Ugly does not. However, Mean was the black chick that didn't look like her siblings

And here is Glenn, Maggie and the Orpington. Maggie is the female with the larger comb that's drinking. And no, the Orpington isn't sick, she just moved while I pressed the button

How many chicks do you plan on ordering this year?
3 or 4 hundred?
