Jack is sick Swollen Face getting larger fast

I have a crazy hen that last year insisted on hanging around a bald faced hornet nest. She got stung in the head multiple times - they tend to go for the face on chickens when they can't get through the fluff. She was very swollen for several days. I thought for sure it was going to kill her, but she healed on her own and without meds. Since she was the only one with the problem in a flock of 24, I chose to let nature takes its course. btw..we figured out what happened to her by following her for a couple days. Apparently there were good pickins just below the hive, which was taken down once we found it. I hope this is all your boy is going through and everything turns out ok.

Edited to add - ground hornets can be pretty nasty too, if your chickens stumble across the hole in the ground.

Going on the third page and everybody is thinking allergic reaction so I will go with that. None of the birds have symptoms and even Jack is just swollen thats it. He is a bit better today but still pretty swollen. This morning I switched the water to plain water. I got a bottle of ACV (Braggs) for all the waterers and some yoghurt too. I havent given any benadryl because I am afraid to.

And yes in spots my yard is pretty wild, who knows what could be lurking out there. There have been different types of bees that I have noticed. I do have a ton of flowers so some come for the flowers and I have had those burrowing wasps around here before.

I just didnt really think that. Took me three pages of you "guys" telling me for the light bulb to go on.

hinkjk now that you mention it I do remember seeing some of those hornets nests (smaller ones) around here; I will have to go and check the yard. BIG YARD

Well you guys were right....it must have been a bee sting,,,possibly 3,,,,I found 3 places on his comb with points of blood,,,,he is doing much better today although he is still somee what swollen but much much better Thank You

Syptoms Include:
The symptoms which are slow to develop, resemble symptoms of a standard respitory infection. Watery eyes, dirty nostrils, coughing & sneezing. It also causes decreased egg production, lowered fertility & decreseed hatchability. There are various species of mycoplasma that can infect chickens, but the most common in small flocks is Mycoplasma gallisepticum (MG). The disease can have a long course of infection and can lead to the accumulation of a "cheesy" material in the eyelids and sinuses, and can cause noticable outward swelling.
