Jan. 2022 Hatch-a-long

16 eggs set 🤞 I opted to leave the auto turner out so I could fit all of our lost ones’ eggs + 2 of our remaining bantam’s. I’m praying at least one of hers hatches, I’ve been looking forward to having one of hers + our rooster we lost offspring for months. Praying we get at least 1. I’m attaching photos of them so y’all can see why I want one of their chicks so bad.

Edit to add- he is the rooster for all of them. The others are 2- Dominique bantam & the rest Sapphire Gems. All were 6-8 months old, have y’all had any luck hatching pullet eggs?
The lord works in many ways, I hope he blesses you with some babies from your lost ones. 🙏🏻:hugs

I lost my Golden Laced Sebright so I am hatching her eggs to try to carry on her blood. They were in the fridge before I hatched them since I did not expect her to die. She was attacked by a hawk. She had just started laying so I only had 4 small pullet eggs from her. One was washed so I really did not expect it to develop. On day 3 (today) 3 out of 4 eggs have veins. The washed egg does not. One of the eggs had been in the fridge for a week. I am amazed! They are due to hatch on January 25th.

This is actually a fish string-er. I got the idea from a lady in ID who sells eggs, it keeps the chicks from playing soccer ball with the eggs.
These are on day 19, (maybe 18) no action yet.

Looking good so far. The incubator is maintaining 99.5-100 temp & around 35% humidity. Since we have naturally high humidity I am trying a dry hatch so that’s 35% without any water in the reservoir. When manually turning do I have to turn them completely over every time? Or is it ok to do quarter turns as well?

Good morning and happy Monday to all! 😊
Day 5 check for development and clears. With my own birds’ eggs it’s pretty obvious if they’re developing at this point. Pulled 3 clears and 1 blood ring. Rest of them had the nice spider veins and look good so far.
Down to 15 eggs, but I have some more waiting in the wings to be added. Can’t have any empty spaces in the incubator after all!

All depends on how often you are turning them. If you have them marked so you can tell what a quarter turn is, then that works. I usually do a 180 when I have to hand turn mine though.😊
