Got some RIR eggs due in two days, already in lockdown, have not candled. I just wanted to be pleasantly surprised. Good luck everybody who is hatching this month.

Five more have hatched, I’ll post photos when they’re all cute and fluffed up! Still waiting on a few. Yes even though cup therapy and cardboard shoes usually work, I’d rather not hassle with those if I don’t have to!

Thank you! Kuroba is definitely a full sized chick. Likely from one of our Dominate copper maran’s Chocolate eggs.

Have you gotten any shipped eggs this year?

I got shipped Quail eggs from Texas to Iowa. I bought 18, she sent extras and I had 17 hatch. Which is amazing.
What I've noticed is that anything that goes through the Kansas City, MO post office is trashed. So, I try to get eggs from Minnesota and Texas because they totally bypass that post office and come straight to Des Moines.
Very few eggs east of me will hatch, and I haven't tried west of me...

I guess what my point is, you'll have to find which post offices are rough on eggs. Maybe you could make a thread?

My birds are doing well. I placed an order of chicks for May. Different colors from all I hatched recently.

8/10 hatched so far. One was DIS, did not even internally pip. One left in the incubator, has not internally pipped yet, but I do see some movement.
