Jan. 21st hatch day! I have chicks! Pics Added pg 12!

Sad to report that I have no hatchlings. There was only 1 fertile egg out of 11 and that it died pretty early on..maybe about day 8 or so.
That's OK because I have two beauties (Parsley the Jersey Giant and Rosemary the Barred Rock) who are almost ready to leave their brooder for the great outside.
People who honestly believe that chickens are stupid or have no personality or soul are totally out of touch. They are so affectionate and smart. I love my feathered daughters!

Well, of the 4, 3 were quitters and I have 1 in there working... So I'll just be saying "goooo chickie!" to the one. Maybe momma thought they were all quitters and could smell them and figured she might as well leave. Good thing I caught the one! It had already broken the air cell so I saw when I candled it. I went ahead and opened it up where the air cell was and have been able to keep the membrane moist so it doesn't shrink wrap the chick. Will see if it hatches the rest of the way out sometime today!

Here is my lone little baby, I 'm hoping for a girl

So far I have 9 chicks, one may or may not make it and I still have 1 pipped egg, it's still alive but I don't know if it is going to hatch. I'll post some pics of the fuzzy butts once I get their brooder set up later today.

I think I've done pretty well with my first hatch and the 13 shipped eggs that made it to lock-down. Two were questionable at day 18 but I left them in anyway just in case.
