Sorry to hear about your unhatched chicks.. It's definitely a learning experience.. I am very glad you did get some chicks out of it though..

There are currently 11 live, peeping, and healthy(with exception of some that need foot/toe correction pads LOL).. and at least 2 more that just pipped this morning to afternoon! Hoping & praying for more of the last 2 groups to hatch out.
For all of you who want so badly to see something in your eggs, I have a few videos for you! On a side note, I went to Family Dollar and picked out a small 9 LED flashlight.. This thing cost me $2!!! You will see how well it works! Granted, I could only see a tiny bit better into the EE's eggs but not enough to see if they were alive or not but you will see how well it does on brown and light green eggs!!! Check these out!! Click on the images below! These are 3 different eggs...

At least you know what to do this time and it should take no time at all!

yuppers... right after the second hatched its yolk went inside?
and another one is chirping/piped
That's not unusual.. If it's just a small piece, it will a lot of times absorb before the chick hatches... Sounds like your temps may have been off a bit... The only time it's a big deal is when it's not absorbed at all.. Then we have to intervene to save the poor thing...

I wrapped the end of the flashlight with some duct tape (folded the part that will touch the eggs so it don't stick to them) so light don't escape.. I have them in egg cartons so I just put the light on top of them instead of handling every single egg.. If I find an egg that I can't see very well because of the position of the veins/chick, then i will pick it up to double check.. Otherwise, i just open the bator and do it right in there...
