Make that 7 out of a 43 egg staggered clutch that have hatched out!!
So far the tally is as follows: 1 from GROUP1
1 from GROUP 2
5 from GROUP 3 *all are primarily black, with cream colored bellies & necks, and some have some silver on their heads and wings.... guess our old roo Cogburn was even more of a very prolific breeder than we thought! Still hoping for some BLRW crosses and hopefully at least 1 that is a pure bred BLRW. We think that one of the chicks just might be a pure bred BG
Well the quail egg count is up to 50 something. I will get it up to 60 when I go to collect eggs in the morning, they will hatch from Jan 28th through Jan. 30th. I sure can use the breeders, and I might be setting more chicken eggs tomorrow. I only have 3 racks in so I can do a staggered hath. Wish me Luck.
My hands are starting to get sore, I keep having to sit on them and smacking my own hands!!
I have been dying to candle my eggs, but since most of mine are maran eggs, I think they will be too dark to see anything.
I thought about candleing my Buffs and my EEs. Since I can not do them all, I have decided not to candle any that way I will be supprised. (Hopefully a HAPPY supprise) when hatch day comes.
I have been taking temps and recording humidity every day. So far temps have been 100 to 101 at the top of the egg (using laser themometer) and humidity has been holding at 37%, even with NO water in the troughs. Remember I am using an LG Still air.
I think I like light brown eggs better than really dark eggs.
You all are making me so jealous that I am about to go nuts here.
