Jan./Feb. 2014 hatch a long

I am dying for my bator to come I want to do a test hatch as soon as it gets here. Im gonna head out to the coop and grab hatching eggs with good aircells. I have found eggs with air cells in the middle. Always candle before i put eggs in because its good to know the aircells location and size. I am happy cause I found a lady near me selling buff Orpington roosters for $15, now sunny can love again When I joined 18 days ago this thread had five posts. This is just amazing.

Also thought I might add how I'm trading eggs with a friend.

Am I the only one to play videos of peeping chicks to help encourage my babies to hatch?

Yep, I put a youtube video on a loop. Except when my kindle decides to go to sleep, and have to restart it.

JD, mine go into lock down tomorrow. I'm all set up with my kitchen liner, and the air sacs are drawn. Oh man, there are two that are clear up the side, and the baby is alive in both. I am going to try something I haven't before with these two eggs. I have all of my bators being used, but I think I am going to take those two out tomorrow night and try hatching them under a real warm light in my brooder, and help them at the end of day 20. There is noo way they will make it on their own with air sacs like that. These sacs are almost to the very top. Pretty sad. The last one I helped, I thought for sure was deformed. It's head was flat on one side, so took a close look to see if the eye was deformed, but it wasn't, it was just flat from being stuck in there with a high air sac. Glad I helped it out. The head got to a normal shape. A nice little blue Marans.

Definitely need to know how it turns out. My detached air sac babies hatch next week, and so worried about theirs being saddled. I am anxious for my two Brahmas to go into lockdown Thursday, not to mention hatch. One was very active and the other too dark to tell.

I'll sit and fiddle on the computer, but as soon as I walk away for a while. I am two pages behind. But that is a good thing, lots of people sharing/caring. Awesome!

Gen9, they couldnt stay out of the snow! Lol

Ohhhh lol yeah, since I've had chickens, we haven't had snow, so it was funny to see their reaction. I removed some from the coop, they wanted to come out but weren't sure... I didn't want them slipping on the ladder coming down anyway. Now they're walking in it, eating it, scratching around in it lol! I laid straw down for them & they're not even on it!

16 eggs just officially went into lockdown! Most were too dark to see much when I candled, but on a few of them I could see little chicks kicking around inside!

I'm on day 6 & 4 over here.... sooo boring... *stares at eggs* DO SOMETHING!!

Before I finished my 1st cup of coffee........must still have been asleep.......
My fingers ordered eggs.......................By the time I realized I was being controlled by something,
(maybe not of this world).it was to late........................already sent pay pal...........
I have wheaten Am's coming tomorrow..............................

Wonder if DH will buy this story............

(acutally, he does not care, just cannot understand why I need so many breeds.............)
Hoping this will turn out better than my 0 hatch with the Silkies............
These are being shipped but about only 350 miles and the weather is decent in our part of the country............

When I am hatching more seriously..................I put eggs in every Friday.............
Then I know, Wends days are lockdown, hatch over the weekend................
Leaves time to sterilize the hatcher before the next lockdown.
I hate just one hatch at a time...............

I was astonished to see how much they actually do move around in the egg!

It's really cool though and makes it easy to see that they are still alive, and quite literally, kicking!
