Jan./Feb. 2014 hatch a long

LL

Dang cute!

I feel bad, I have a chicken that has been broody for a while. We moved her into the barn since we had the cold spell. But I don't think the eggs are going to hatch at this point. We are going to candle tomorrow night.

I hate to just take them away and put her back out with the flock. This is her first time.

If they are bad, can I give her new eggs to try? Or should she need to take a break from being broody?

How long has she been broody..if not over 2 weeks, you can sneak some more eggs under her. Keep that food and water near her. :)

No I didn't know that. Thank you so much. I will put something different for them. This is why I love byc.
Thank you

I love, love the kitchen liner for this. If you don't have any around right now...dollar stores have it..then put down some paper towels. They aren't as slippery. Splayed leg is easy to fix early on, but nice if you don't have to deal with it in the first place. :) Here's a photo of the liner.

This is blue liner, on top of the wood chips. :)

if you buy clearance or the colors people don't want, you can get it very cheap!

Yep, already has the waterer and food bowl right beside her. She has been in the barn since just before NYD. Found her hiding on her nest, so don't know how long she was on it before that. But up to a week. So she is right at that mark or just past it.
