Jan./Feb. 2014 hatch a long

It didn't occur to me until now, but are there seriously no other men in this hatch-a-long thread?

Ha sorry, I didn't mean it to sound sexist like that!

I actually first typed "Ok guys..."
but then changed it

can't win!

I warmed my eggs up slowly as well. Not 8 hours but still didn't just chuck them in there.
I was told NEVER put cold eggs in. Which is what I made sure didn't happen.
Wait you say on point 3 that you do turn them but then on point 5 not to?!?!?

So in my situation I only have 2 detached from 13 eggs, should I still hatch up right??? I have marked the detached ones so should I just hatch them upright???

No Turning: 24hr rest and first 48hrs in the incubator (day 0 and day 1)
then resume normal turning

End turning: Day 16 (2 days earlier than normal)

I like to hatch them upright when they are detached as well. I do not lay on their side for hatch. Maybe you could cut up an egg carton just to keep those 2 upright?

Well, here are the results! 34 healthy chicks out of the 36 eggs that were fertile. Giving the other two eggs the rest of the day, but I'm almost positive they are dead...

Ok so for my next batch, I will be hatching more chicks from my flock. I want them to hatch on my birthday so I will be putting in another batch on January 28.

Okay ladies.... I just finished watching a PBS Nature show called My Life As a Turkey. Have you seen it?!?! It's on Netflix and I would highly recommend it!! I thought of Max the whole time

the guy raises wild turkeys from eggs, and he lives as a turkey for a year. he even roosts with them at night hahaha, he is really committed! it is a pretty amazing show, I really loved it!
You know I've seen it. I watched it as soon as I realized I was going to be a turkey mom.

This should be a required program to watch for anyone on BYC that has Netflix.

There is also a really good duck show on netflix.

Hey, Max is male. And he is always playing with the remote.
