Very nice. BLRW are such lovely chickens. I have been eyeing them for awhile but unfortunately have no need for them in any of my pens.

These are my first chickens ever and I love the look of them.

Is it odd that silver laced Wyandottes seem to be awful, but everyone says BLRW are such nice birds? I honestly hate my SLW, they're mean to the other birds and are just all around awful.

That's interesting. I thought all Wyandottes were easy going birds but I guess not.

I still laugh out loud every time you say you hate your SLW lol. You must REALLY not like them. Are yours hatchery or from a breeder, maybe that is what makes the personality a little different. I just find mine to be bossy and top of the pecking order, but only in their new pen. They were in a different pen last year and they were somewhere in the middle of the pecking order and stayed pretty neutral. Maybe different breeds bring out different sides of them.

I had one SLW named Willow, LOVED her she was sweet, I called her my garage chicken, at dusk instead of returning to the coop with the others she would come in the garage and roost on the railing of the stairs leading into my kitchen, just waiting for her nightly petting. Sadly she died just before winter I think due to stress when I added a rooster to her coop.

I have both BLRW'S and SLW'S...................
They are very sweet, never cause problem and are very broody.........
I absolutely do not keep chickens that are not docile...
Just have to wonder about the breeding .........

I got my eggs from a BYCer and hope they aren't aggressive. I guess i'll have to wait till they hatch and find out for myself.

I have 5 SLWs and two of them are just absolute bullies. They don't mess with my BSL hen, but they will bully a couple of other SLWs and my Cochin bantams. I have some half SLWs in the 'bator, and I am hoping that the aggression will be left out of the genetics. If not, that's OK because I can use them as meat chickens. BLRWs are so pretty! I hope they all hatch for you, Justin F.

So, I can't keep myself from candling, so of course I candled last night and was so happy to see veining in the 3 eggs I candled. Being my fist incubation, I am extremely excited and probably over emotional too. But it's FUN!

I'm letting mine settle until tomorrow morning and will be putting them in the incubator then. I agree, this hatching thing is really addicting lol. I woke up 5 hours early waiting for my call from the post office to get my babies. I'M SO EXCITED!

My SLW are hatchery, and just the worst bullies.
I was just out with the chickens, changing water and getting eggs, and those two SLW are just mean. Especially to the Cochins, for no reason. They just walk over, rip out feathers and walk away. Hubby and I have decided to be rid of them when we have a couple more layers. I honestly would love to have just Cochins and Cream Legbars, they're all very sweet together.

I candled, no internal pips. I read the float test page and it seems like a lot of people had late hatches. I'm so torn about what to do.
